Born here on January 31, 1919 to sharecroppers and slave grandparents on what was once a plantation, Jackie Robinson was just two years old when his mother packed up he and his four siblings, hopped on a train and headed to California. A recently unveiled marker, placed by the Georgia Historical Society, identifies the exact spot of the house. (A chimney remains.)
