This park honors Olympic great Jesse Owens, an Oakville native who won four gold medals in the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, the first American and the second athlete in history to win four gold medals. The 20-acre park features a Visitor Center, a Jesse Owens home birthplace replica, a 14 1/2-foot tall statue of Owens with the Olympic rings and a 1936 torch replica. A museum featuring a timeline of Owens’s life from his early days in Oakville, through his university and Olympic success, is located in the park. Also nearby – a replica of Jesse Owens’ home in Oakville.
